Did you know that what we give our attention to expands, flourishes, grows ? The past few months, more than ever, I can truly give testament of this fact. Here is an example of what I am talking about.
A couple of months ago something happened to my face. I won’t get into the gory details, but suffice it to say, it seemed like overnight my face was a mess. I had neglected my face for too long and I was reaping the results of that neglect. I immediately took to the internet and researched home remedies for a clear complexion. Armed with my concoctions I gave my face focused attention for several weeks.
Do you know what happened? After a few weeks of homemade scrubs and masks, my glow was back. My face was clear and all was right in my world again. None of which would have happened had I had not assessed the situation, created a game plan, and put that plan into action.
I paid attention to my skin, gave it what it needed, and it flourished. Which area in your life is not expanding, flourishing, growing, or producing like you want it to? Maybe it’s time you give it some attention and watch it expand.
Life can be so demanding. Everything seems pressing and has to be done now. In the busyness of living it is so easy to lose sight of what really matters. It happens subtly, each day some new task gets added to the already burgeoning To Do List. Before you realize what’s happening you are going through life doing everything but “the thing” that really matters to you.
In the midst of it all I just want to take a minute and remind you to never lose focus of your purpose, your mission, your goal, your “main thing”. In the words of Stephen R. Covey “The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.”
How are you keeping the main thing the main thing?
Are you excited about the things that you have written down in the activities from Part 1 and Part 2? What did you experience when you saw on paper what is possible for you? Were you energized? Are you excited about bringing some of the items on your list to fruition? Maybe you had the opposite experience. For some of you seeing that list of possibilities actually made you feel awful. Instead of focusing on what’s possible you focused on the likelihood of accomplishing your goals and became discouraged. Whether the exercises left you energized or discouraged I’m excited for you!
I’m excited for you because you are in a very good position to make things happen. You are poised for change and that’s an exciting place to be at anytime in life.
This next exercise that I want you to complete requires honesty on your part. There are no judgments. I want you to take a deep breath in, slowly exhale, do it again, deep breath in, slowly exhale. I would like for you to be very honest with yourself and answer this question from the eyes of your present self. Not the person you were in the past, not the person you aspire to be. Answer this question as the person you are right now at this very moment. “Are you ready to change your life?”
Wow! We’ll talk more about that tomorrow. Until then please share any insights you have gained from the big question by posting a reply.
