“This year is going to be different. Really! I’m serious this time. This is going to be my year. I mean it this time.” More than likely, you’ve probably said this a time or two. I know that I have. However, even though this may have been my mantra a time or two, I have noticed that the times where my year was different, it was because I took intentional steps to make it different. Surprisingly (although it should not have been), I found my steps wrapped up in the definition of one very provocative word, SUCCESS.
Success:“the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of one’s goals.” dictionary.com
Several things immediately got my attention after I read the definition of success.
Goals. If I’m going to have a successful year I need to define what a successful year looks like to me.
Favorable or prosperous. Success isn’t always about money.
Attempts. I can’t have success if I’m not “attempting” anything. So, if I want to have an amazing year I have to do something to make it happen.
Accomplishment. If I start it I should finish it.
For my year to be successful and amazing I am going to have to sit down and think about what I want as it relates to my personal life and my business (favorable or prosperous goals). After I know what I want, I am going to have to do the work (attempts) necessary to have the life that I want for the year (accomplishment). That’s it, so simple right!
Hello 2015! I was at the beach a few days ago and it was beautiful. I love being near the ocean. To see all of that bridled power, knowing the potential sitting there, stirring, restless, waiting to be unleashed. The vastness of it all really inspires me.
I feel like I am just like that ocean. I have all of this greatness inside of me waiting to be released. Waiting on what? Waiting on me.
I LOVE nature. Being outside surrounded by old trees, water, and even the bugs invigorates me. I feel refreshed, alive, and I am ready for “what’s next” in my day.
Whenever I allow several days to go by without my time outdoors I notice the difference in myself. I am easily agitated, my to-do list becomes burdensome, I feel like I need to get away. I did not observe the correlation between my demeanor and my touch with nature right away. Once I did, however, I made sure that I spent time in my green environment regularly.
There may be an activity, a certain environment, or even a scent that makes you feel alive, that sets the reset button on the chaos brewing in your life. Don’t underestimate the simple things that can make your life more satisfying. Make these a regular part of your week and revel in the change it brings to your life.
What makes you feel recharged and ready for “what’s next”?

I had a significant “aha” moment a few days ago. I realized that I do not have to wait for inspiration. I can be inspired at any time by focusing on the things or activities that inspire me. It sounds so simple and obvious but the significance of it became so real to me at that particular moment. My life has literally changed for the better because of this revelation.
Let me tell you about me. I wait for inspiration before doing a lot of things. It’s frustrating because there are times when I want to create, but I am stumped because I rely so much on inspiration before I begin a project. I would often beg and plead with God to “please let me stay inspired”. I realize now that I should have asked how I can maintain the inspiration vs begging and pleading. But that’s a story for another day.
Anyway, back to creating more moments of inspiration. I can be inspired at any time by doing and thinking of things that inspire me. Whether it’s saying thanks for the goodness in my life, going for a walk, sitting by the lake or ocean, listening to inspirational messages, reading motivating material, watching a movie, saying confessions or affirmations. I can, on purpose, engage in activities that inspire me and guess what? Inspiration will come.
I can not tell you how excited I am about this. Before I go I would be remiss if I did not reiterate that you play a role in this. If you’re frustrated waiting for inspiration YOU have to create it. Do the work and the inspiration will come.
This morning I wanted to lay in bed a little longer. I thought of how extra time in bed would impact the rest of my day, and guess what I did…I jumped right out of bed.
If I did not already have a plan for my day, I would have stayed in bed and missed the opportunity of a productive and fulfilling day. You will enjoy life more if you plan your days. By planning your days you can live that life you have been dreaming about. Schedule an hour on Saturday to learn a second language, visit the museum, take a class. Whatever it is, add it to your life and watch life take on a whole new meaning.
What’s something that you have wanted to do for a long time but you haven’t made time for it? Choose a day and time, add it to your calendar. Let me know you’ve added it to your calendar so that I can celebrate you.
Did you know that what we give our attention to expands, flourishes, grows ? The past few months, more than ever, I can truly give testament of this fact. Here is an example of what I am talking about.
A couple of months ago something happened to my face. I won’t get into the gory details, but suffice it to say, it seemed like overnight my face was a mess. I had neglected my face for too long and I was reaping the results of that neglect. I immediately took to the internet and researched home remedies for a clear complexion. Armed with my concoctions I gave my face focused attention for several weeks.
Do you know what happened? After a few weeks of homemade scrubs and masks, my glow was back. My face was clear and all was right in my world again. None of which would have happened had I had not assessed the situation, created a game plan, and put that plan into action.
I paid attention to my skin, gave it what it needed, and it flourished. Which area in your life is not expanding, flourishing, growing, or producing like you want it to? Maybe it’s time you give it some attention and watch it expand.
This has been an interesting week. I have talked to so many people who have “shiny object syndrome”. You know what I’m talking about. Their intentions are good. They purchase the latest and greatest products from top gurus in the field and you know what’s next. Nothing. That’s right. They do nothing with the programs that they purchase. Excuse after excuse, “I’m so busy”, “I had to travel”, “I already know the information in the program”. I think you know where I’m headed. I understand these people. I know how they feel and I know that their reasons for not starting on their investments are valid. I’m frustrated. Can you feel my pain? I’m frustrated because I want these people to stop purchasing product after product and face the real issue. Something deeper is going on and they need to address that before investing in another product.
